Re: T6 Transporter running hot. I find the blanket reference of 96 °C or 96-100°C as the "normal" operating temperature for the "vollas" quite interesting. You guys are referring to the coolant temperature which is irrelevant to the operating temperature of the engine. Well not completely irrelevant but not something worth monitoring. Unfortunately, like many vehicles from the VW range, the Transporter BiTDi has been plagued with a serious issue that could result in total engine failure. Initially, this issue appears as high oil usage, whilst this can be common in some of the VAG engines (namely my 2015 Skoda Octavia TDi VRS) this is much more serious than you’d expect. If VW fill the oil to the top of the dip stick during a service on a long run as the oil heats up and its volume expands I believe it triggers the warning. When my new T6.1 was delivered I noticed the oil level was 1/2 on the dip stick, the result I've not been affected by this issue. My oil level when cold is still 1/2 way on

To be honest, as long as it is a good reputable brand, meets or exceeds the right specs for the vehicle, you are good to go.

I find it somewhat annoying that VW don't provide owners with a checklist of what needs doing when: DSG at 40,000, 80,000, 120,000 miles; brake fluid at 3, 5, 7, 9 years; etc.
